TEKS and Student Performance
The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for instrumental music requires that the curriculum include instruction in appropriate audience behavior during live performances.
Audience etiquette is based upon respect for the performers and for others in the audience and is a general expression of courtesy.
Unfortunately, young people are seldom exposed to formal concert situations and are often not aware of these standards of behavior. By following these guidelines, you can set a positive example for our students and will make the concert more enjoyable for all.
- Avoid entering or leaving the concert hall during a performance.
- Talking should be avoided during a performance.
- All electronic device notifications (pagers, cellular phones, and alarms) should be turned off or set on silent.
- Unhappy children should be taken outside the performance area immediately.
- Refrain from flash photography while groups are performing.
Video/Audio Recording Guidelines
- Recording of this performance (audio or video) is allowed for archival use only.
- The unauthorized reproduction, distribution and/or sale of such recordings is a violation of copyright law, student privacy, and district policy.
- If recording, please move to the back of the venue to not block other audience members from enjoying the performance.
Parking
Parking may be available in many of the regular arts district locations.
This parking information is provided as a convenience. Availability and cash/credit options are dependent entirely on the parking lot, and is entirely outside of Wylie Community Band/Wylie I.S.D. control.
